Be yourself. It makes little sense to make both of you appear compatible when this is not the case. Later on problems will develop. Acting out parts that do not fit your personality is not going to work. This does not stop you from being polite. If you are not already polite, it would be a good time to start. Being polite is only common sense. When you are conversing online these rules should apply and carry over when you meet.

Do not make any advances that will not be appreciated, either online or in person. If the other party is willing, this is a natural process and should not be planned as most other activities during a date. Go with the flow. Ask the other party what they prefer to do and try to meet half-way. It is also not recommended to always defer to the other person. It will give the appearance of being false, because most people have some sort of opinion.

If you have bad habits, like poor table manners, correct them. This is not being false, just a learning process in how to act properly in a social situation. Remember you met online and there are things that cannot be known about a person until both of you are physically together.
